A mid-1800’s architectural wonder helped make Chicago the city it is today. The 96-mile Illinois & Michigan Canal (I&M Canal) connected the Great Lakes in Bridgeport, Chicago to the Illinois River at LaSalle-Peru, and amazingly unique towns sprung up that maintain their authentic charm to this date.

In downtown Lemont there’s a true treasure known as H&H Family Restaurant. This family-owned restaurant serves their community and many visitors authentic Mexican- American cuisine. You can come by for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to enjoy all their flavors.
Last week our staff paid a visit to the restaurant during lunch time to try some of their delicious food. We were welcomed in with open arms and the smell of food cooking in the back. There were so many things to choose from that it was hard to pick just one meal to try.
Staring with the breakfast side of the menu, the options were endless and while everything sounded great, we chose a classic sausage omelet.
Made with three country fresh eggs and served with potatoes and toast, you can never go wrong with this choice for breakfast or an early lunch. The omelet was a great size and had just the right amount of sausage to enjoy every single bite.
The second item we ordered was a taco salad and it did not disappoint us! The taco shell bowl gave you a perfect crunch and went well with the fresh salad. The choice of meat was ground beef and it was seasoned just right!
Lastly, you cannot go to an authentic Mexican restaurant and not indulge in a classic taco dish. We tried their chicken and beef tacos that were made with love. The shells were fresh, and the meat were full of flavor. The meal comes with three tacos with a side of rice and beans. Every bite just kept getting better and better! The beans were topped with cheese and rice complimented the entire meal.
