Outdoor activites are great, but not when the temperatures drop! But you don't have to sit at home bored - we rounded up fun indoor activities to keep your warm and entertained this winter.

Whether you want to learn about wildlife from your couch, hear live music, or see a nationally-renowned comic, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Birding the Preserves (Zoom Webinar): January 5th, 7-8pm

• The Isle a la Cache Museum hosts is Birding the Preserves Webinar. Gather the family around and learn all there is on birds and birding through a virtual hike through one of the District's preserves. A new preserve is highlighted each month. It may take you by surpirse by how many different bird breeds can be found. Registration is required by Thursday, January 5th. The Commodores - Rialto Square Theatre: January 7th, 7:30pm

• Enjoy a night out while listening to musical icons The Commodores. Through the course of their career, The Commodores has continued to have a strong presence in the music industry. They have achieved many accolades including winning grammy awards. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster. 

Winter Recreation (Zoom Webinar): January 14th, 6-7pm

• The Sugar Creek Administration Center will host a Winter Recreation Webinar. Learn about winter recreation actvities in the Forest Preserve and find out the best preserves to take hikes, go cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, wildlife viewing, and more. Take a break with Woodpeckers (Zoom Webinar): January 20th, noon

• Enjoy a quick 30-miunte session with nauralists, hosted by Hidden Oaks Nature Center. This is a great time to learn about your resident birds, including woodpeckers. From large woodpeckers to small, you will learn the difference between them and how to attract them. Registration is required by Friday, January 20th. Nikki Glaser - Rialto Square Theatre: January 21st 7pm, 9:30pm

• Join Nikki Glaser as she takes you through a journey of life. For over a decade, Nikki has been bringing her no-holds barred style of comedy to theatres. Enjoy a night of laughs, drinks, and ongoing entertainment. Tickets on sale at Ticketmaster. 

Scotty McCreery - Rialto Square Theatre: January 27th, 8:00pm

• McCreery started his career with a bang. In 2011, he became the first country artist and the youngest male artist to have his first studio album, Clear as Day, at number 1 on the all-genre Billboard Top-200 Albums chart. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster. 

Meditative Mandalals - Sugar Creek Administration Center: January 28th, 10-11am 

• Join Crystal Simpelo, artist and author of "The Colorful Expressions of Your Soul: A Mandala Coloring Book and Meditative Creative Journal," and learn how to relax and meditate through the art of mandalas. Participants will color a mandala from the book, learn how to draw a mandala, and create a large nature mandala as a group. Registration is required by January 26th. Please call (815) 727-8700.
