Volunteer this Martin Luther King Jr Day

One of the best ways to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr Day is through volunteering. This year, go out and make a difference in your community on Monday, January 16th. 

Forest Preserve District of Will County

• Location: Rock Run Preserve - Black Road Access
• When: Monday, January 16th, 9am - noon
• Get some fresh air and make a difference by attending one or more of the Forest Preserve's volunteer mornings. Participants will be removing invasive plants throughout the area. Resgistration is required. To get started, you must first fill out a waiver form on their website, then contact [email protected] or call (815) 722-7364. Age range required is 10 and older. Volunteers 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. 

Joliet Central High School

• Location: Joliet Central Student Center - 201 E. Jefferson St
• When: Monday, January 16th, 7:30am - 1pm 
• After a two-year pause, Joliet Central will be hosting their Joliet-Area MLK Day of Service event. This event kicks off in the Student Center Cafeteria, with registration starting at 7:30am. The program launch will begin at 8:30am and local community service projects will be from 9am - noon. Projects can include painting, cleaning, organizing, volunteering at food pantries, making blankets for the homeless, decorating valentines for veterens, and more. After projects are finished, volunteers will return to the cafeteria for lunch, project re-caps, and family-friendly entertainment.
