Historically important and architecturally unique, the Reddick Mansion anchors Washington Square, the site of the first Lincoln-Douglas Debate in Ottawa, Illinois. Finished in 1858, the Reddick Mansion, a lovely 22-room Italianate structure, was possibly the most expensive and ornate pre-Civil War home built in Illinois. Take a step back into the 19th century and visit the Reddick Mansion, where numerous rooms have been restored to their previous grandeur. A $1.4 million exterior restoration was completed in 2018-2020 under the direction of the Reddick Mansion Association, which is responsible for the historic preservation and operations of the Jewel of Ottawa.
