A mid-1800’s architectural wonder helped make Chicago the city it is today. The 96-mile Illinois & Michigan Canal (I&M Canal) connected the Great Lakes in Bridgeport, Chicago to the Illinois River at LaSalle-Peru, and amazingly unique towns sprung up that maintain their authentic charm to this date.

READ ON!The Lockport Summer Art Series has partnered with corporate sponsors and bigger businesses in order to support Lockport small businesses, forced to shut down during Covid-19.
The “Keep Our Small Businesses Afloat” project will soon make appearances through the city of Lockport with 3-foot-tall ducks starting May 1, 2021 through September 2021. These ducks are painted by twenty-two Chicagoland artists, curated by the Illinois State Museum-Lockport Gallery. We’ve included a couple of in-progress photos, but you will want to visit all of the finished ducks this summer!
The sponsored ducks will sit in front of the business and commercial plazas in order to help them receive more support and encouragement to “take flight again.“ There will be printed “passport” booklets that visitors can pick up and use as they travel to each duck. For every duck you visit, you will receive a stamp, special offers, coupons and even a mini-rubber duck to keep!
While you view each masterpiece, you can access a QR code that will give you more information about the sponsor, the artist, and the small business where the duck is displayed.
